Adult Dance Classes
ABOUTAdult Ballet
Our Adult Ballet classes are bespoke to The Village School of Dance and have been created by our fabulous Principal, Katherine. These classes are specifically designed to bring a sense of calm and elegance to your week. We know that exercise doesn’t always have to be at a high intensity to improve your mind, body and soul, so our Adult Ballet Classes focus on learning the basic ballet technique, toning the body way and improving our posture, in a fun and controlled way.
We also believe that exercise should be enjoyable, so we pride ourselves on helping adults of all ages and abilities to find their inner ballet dancer and develop a love for dance and movement.
No previous Ballet experience is necessary, our kind, friendly and experienced teachers will welcome you into our community and make you feel part of the school.
Why not take some time for yourself and join us for a beautiful ballet class, in the heart of Wimbledon Village?
ABOUTDiverse Dance Mix
DDMIX is a new full body aerobic workout based on a range of different dance styles with easy to follow steps. Created by Darcey Bussell and Nathan Clarke, it is fun, entertaining and stimulates the body and mind. It includes genres, eras and national dances from around world; there is something for everyone to enjoy! Anything from 1960s and Hand Jive to African and Bollywood.
Katherine attended the first ever instructor course for DDMIX in January 2015. Within a month, 2 classes were running in 2 of our venues in Wimbledon. By the summer term of 2015, due to high demand, Katherine then opened a further evening class on a Wednesday. DDMIX made its debut in Wimbledon at the Wimbledon Guild’s Wimbledon Village fair where, along with some of our very own DDMIXers, Katherine and Darcey performed some of the routines on the main stage.

Katherine has been very fortunate to work closely with Darcey. She has been a fantastic support as she often attends some of the classes as well as even covering for Katherine, a very rare treat for our DDMIXers!
The school has also been given the fantastic opportunity to showcase DDMIX with Darcey at Trafalgar square. We took a very excited group of Grade 2 modern students for a trip into London where we danced at the Big Dance event run by the London Mayor. Katherine has also helped Darcey promote DDMIX to the ‘suits’ in Finsbury Avenue Square as part of a Royal Academy of Dance pop up.
DDMIX is also now on the school curriculum which is a brilliant achievement. Katherine has been part of the ‘DDMIX schools’ team to get the course up and running, teaching pilot classes in schools around Merton.
DDMIX has been a fantastic new addition to what the school can offer and Katherine is very excited to share it with everyone. So come along, all you need is some fitness clothes to get you moving and a pair of trainers and you’re set to go!
